Ron Otsuki


Prior to joining Forethought Risk as a consultant, Ron was Vice President of Portfolio Strategies at CPPIB (Canada Pension Plan Investment Board).  In this role, Ron was responsible for highlighting emerging risks for the plan over a 3 to 5 year time horizon.  He oversaw a group made up of individuals throughout various groups in the organization.

Prior to CPPIB, Ron spent 2 years in retirement following 12 years at Manulife Financial.  Ron held several senior positions at Manulife, including Senior Vice President of Global Investment Strategy, Senior VP of International Investments and VP of Capital Markets.  Ron was responsible for the strategic investment teams in Toronto and Boston, the tactical asset management team, global investment manager research, economic research, and global derivatives activities.

Ron was chair of John Hancock's Pension Investment Committee and was a member of the following committees: Asset Allocation, Investment, Credit, Asset Liability, Derivatives Risk Oversight, and the Investment Executive committee. 

Prior to Manulife, Ron was Executive Director of the Ontario Finance Authority.  He was responsible for all borrowing and investing activities on behalf of the Province of Ontario as well as risk management of those activities.

Ron is a seasoned executive with deep knowledge of pension and asset management.
